PP lamination
what is PP lamination
The PP lamination is technique to put a very thin a very thin layer of film cover on the paper. This techniques always used to the coated paper, not to the uncoated paper. As if used to the uncoated paper ,there would be some small bubbles inside, then affect the appearance.
The function of the PP lamination
A , The thin film creates a natural protective barrier for the box. It is always appears on the outer wrapping paper. When wrapping paper board, if the outer wrapping paper without the film lamination, the wrapping paper would be easy cracked out.
B , What’s more, it can prevent the colors fade. Most of the coated wrapping paper will be printed some colors on it, not matte graphics printing, just a logo printing or full color printing, if without any lamination on the coated paper, then the color will be easy fade or scratched on the following other process.
C, Finally, the most important function is waterproof and antifouling. When producer hand making the box, it is easy to stick glue and dirt on the box. So if the box with pp lamination, then all of them can be easy to clean up.
Types of PP lamination
There are four normally lamination type using in paper packaging industry.
Matte lamination – The appearance is matte finish.
Glossy lamination – The appearance is glossy finishing.
Soft touch lamination – matte appearance, But the looks more elegant than matte lamination, when you touch it, it is smooth and soft. Of course, the price is expensive than the matte and glossy lamination.
Anti scratch lamination – Matte finish, but the most important thing is that to make the box to avoid scratch. When the box color is dark, such as black ,dark blue or other dark color, it is wise to use it.
Varnishing
Varnishing is a clear transparent finish. The cost is cheaper than the lamination, but the protective of the color is not good as the lamination.
It includes matte and glossy finishing, you can chose one of each for your packaging.
It is most commonly used on the surface of uncoated paper, Such as kraft paper, wood free paper.
Hot foil stamping printing(silver/golden/white/black)
The hot foil stamping printing is a special printing method to make the special color stamp on the paper. Before this process, it needs a template mould for the logo or graphic you need to stamping , then using the color paper (normally is the gold, silver or black film color paper ) stamp on the paper card. Can reach matte or glossy finishing, which depends on what the color paper looks like.
If you want the logo to be printed in golden and shiny ,just go ahead with the glossy golden hot foil.
Emboss and Deboss
Paper packaging supplier use the press machine to do this technique, The die mould is made up of two part, which is front and back metal plate. Then places the paper card between the front and back plate, the press machined worked. People often emboss or deboss logo, or the special emphasizes a particular area of in the design. It is a three-dimensional effect.
Spot UV
Spot UV refers to the UV coating to a specific are or areas. It is a creative way to raised the effect of the area to add depth and contrast.
If a paper box is finished with an over matt finish, and you want to bring out the bright out effect of the logo , with a gloss spot UV is attractive. The opposite works.
Surface treatment is not a necessary process, but if you need your packaging to be special and highlight brand content, you should choose some of them. These processes do not add much to the box cost, but of course, the larger the area, the higher the cost, and if you only need a small piece of logo to do such a process, the cost is very low.
