But how can we avoid that? What can we do is undertake these damaged boxes?
No, we have some ways to reduce the rate of damaged. Before shipping, we can do many on these customized boxes.
1, Custom suitable carton box for packing
Never use the stock shipping carton unless the boxes can fit in it well, like a customized carton box.
You may think that the stock cartons may save more than customized ones, but the customized one helps you save a lot compared with the damaged box.
When ordered to a factory, you just asked them to customize the carton box. It won’t add any extra cost.
Please don’t allow your shipping box with much extra space, and it is the key to avoid damage.
Five-layer for shipping carton is necessary, and the quality is must be no worse than K flue. More sturdy carton you used, your packaging box will be protected better.
2, Don’t make the carton box too heavy
If you received the packaging list from the factory, when each carton gloss weight is over 15KGS, reject it! Because the gloss weight is too much, I am sure the damage rate would be more 50% than less.
How? If your gift boxes were arranged to be shipped by LCL(less container loaded), there would be many times for unloading and uploading.
Forwarder picks up the cargo from your factory or supplier, then to the forwarder’s warehouse, and uploads again with other loads together in a container. When the boxes arrived at the destination port, unload the boxes and then uploading to the truck to deliver to you.
Many times for uploading and unloading, if your carton weight is too heavy, then when uploading the cargoes together with other cartons in the same container, 80% of your cargoes will be put bottom. Your boxes will be easily pressed damaged by other shipments.
3, Try to choose the gift box can be flat packing type
Why did I say that?
Imagine that when the packaging box is empty inside, then increases the risk for damage when shipping.
But how about flat packing types? Then there would be no extra place in the shipping carton, which means there is no space for pressing. It would make the boxes safer.
When you need to order large boxes, it is a wise choice to make a folding one. Even the price is a bit higher than the unfold structure.
Moreover, a Foldable box not only can help you to save warehouse space but also can save much shipping costs.
We all know that empty boxes will be with more space than the flat packing types. If your warehouse is limited to stock, go ahead with flat packing one.
4, Double outer carton packing
Why use a double outer carton? Will it add weight or measurement for shipping？
Of course, it will.
But frankly, to say, it’s worth you do like that.
Double outer carton means after packed with shipping carton, then put inside another more giant carton—this method like two walls between the risk damaged from the product.
It is used commonly in shipping first samples because samples should be packed well without any damaged. Most of the suppliers will consider using double outer carton packing.
5, Single gift box packed in bubble bag or foam protect
Putting the luxury premium gift box into a bubble bag or using foam protection helps avoid damage when shipping.
Whether your gift box is big or small, wrapped with a bubble bag or foam can protect your gift box damaged from accidents.
6, Each side is attached with plastic protection
Personally speaking, it is the cheapest way to reduce the accidentally damaged risk.
When attached the plastic protection, the corner will be protected.
If your cargoes are shipped by air or express service, don’t forget to ask your factory to do that.
7, Packing with pallet – plastic pallet
Why the packing with a pallet at the end of the tips?
Because it is used barely for small businesses, packing with pallet will increase the measurements and then more shipping cost.
But if the box’s value is much, don’t save this cost, as comparing the box’s importance to your product, the fewer measurements and shipping costs must be worth doing that.
Try to ask your factory or forwarder for more suggestions, balance everything, like cost, shipping way, complicated or not, considering everything you learned from. Make a suitable way to protect your customized gift box without any damage when shipping.
